Ian Grewar is a South African violinist, violist, and music educator with over 16 years of teaching and performing experience across South Africa and the UK. He began violin studies at age 7 with the late Mrs Estelle Stauffer, later earning his BMus under Prof. Piet Koornhof—Julliard School alumni and pupil of renowned pedagogue Dorothy DeLay. Ian is a proud alumnus of the North West Youth Orchestra and served as Concertmaster of the NWU PUK Symphony Orchestra (PSO). He has performed with the South African National Youth Orchestra (SANYO) and most recently with the Cheltenham Philharmonic Orchestra in England.

As an educator, Ian has taught at Hoër Volkskool Potchefstroom, led the music department at Pittville School in the UK, and provided violin tuition at Gimnasium Potchefstroom and Lebone College in Rustenburg. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management and a PGCE, blending musical artistry with educational leadership. Through Music.Ian and the Music Meerkat initiative, Ian brings joyful, mobile music education to schools—making music accessible, meaningful, and fun.
